Haven't posted here in quite some time, but I'm having a little trouble with one of my laptops. It's an IBM R40 that's maybe two years old.
When booting up, sometimes the laptop takes 30 seconds to boot up, and other times it literally takes 5 minutes or more. I can't understand what is going wrong here. I ran a test on the hard drive and it came back clean with no errors. I also formatted the hard drive and put a fresh copy of windows xp professional on it. It seems to boot quickly maybe 1 or 2 times out of 10, and takes over 5 minutes the other 8 or 9 times.
Anyone have any ideas of what's going wrong with this notebook?
