When I installed the card in the rig in my signature I started getting random BSOD, Then one day it blue screened and I couldn't boot into windows and had to reformat.
It was fine for a few days after the fresh format of win 7 64bit, but then I started getting the same blue screen error again.
Wondering If there is anything I can do or do I need to get the card back on warranty.

You can rule out your system, I had the exact same board and CPU with an R9 290X.

I recently had BSOD with a particular driver issue that has yet to be fixed, it is caused by hardware acceleration being used during the playback of videos (e.g. youtube or facebook), the current work around it to turn off HW acceleration in the browser.
 
Stop 0xA0000001 is a known issue with low power state switching in non-demanding games/accelerated web browsing on X58 and few other boards. There's no fix besides flashing a modded Asus PT1 bios or replacing the motherboard board with something newer.
 
I had the same issue on my evga board. Since I switched my SSD (OS drive) from the SATAIII port to SATAII I haven't had the issue, and it's been a few weeks now.

Might be worth contacting the manufacture and seeing if there is anything they can do..
 
Yeah, I want a 980 now. I guess, the 970 is about on par with the 290x and uses a lot less power so technically not a side grade. I'm curious if that will still have an issue though. :p

The only thing left to figure out (providing that pesky BSOD stays away) is the stupid black screen when playing games. I can't figure it out, only lead is trying a new power supply.
 
I have an EVGA X58 board and it ran my 290 just fine .. but EVGA I think used a different chipset lay out as the board has 3 way Sli.

Yeah, mine has 3 way sli and I have had the issue. :p Mine is even a more 'modern' x58 board. It has SATA 3 and USB 3.
 
I have a rev 1.2 board which was the last E758 3way Sli board they made .. but I also had windows 8/8.1 and the 290 rocked for me.


If it was me.. I would pull the card and reset the bios and reinstall card just to update the DMI data pool.. then I would try to bump the PCI Express up to 101-102Mhz..

Did you reinstall any apps ? a new app can most likely cause a issue . But do a fresh install of windows and drivers . If you still get the problem , try your card on another pc to make sure the card is not the problem. There are many reasons for a bsod , check one by one.

None of that will solve STOP 0xA0000001. It is a compatibility problem.
 
does that affect the 5500 series chipset also? (dual 1366)
 
Any problems reported with x58 and any other newer cards ? maybe ill have to get a 970 instead
 
Been running a pair of Sapphire tri-x OC 290Xs in crossfire since they launched on an Asus P6T deluxe (X58) without any issues.

nVidia 7xx were fine, R9 280(x) were fine. Probably not an issue on nVidia's 970/980 as well.
The BSOD happens with 290(x) series because of the AMD's powertune crap.

What are you playing? My XFX 290 Black DD worked fine on Asus P6T Deluxe V2 in GPU heavy games, like BF4. But games like Diablo 3, Wildstar and few others, which weren't loading the GPU above 95% were crashing randomly.
