Hi,

Yesterday I walked over to my computer to find the power was off (when I never turned it off). I tried to power back on, and the power would come on, but the boot process would not start. The lights would come on and the fans start but no boot (I can tell because there isn't the standard booting sounds). Things I noticed - no video and CD-Drive would not eject (like it does not have power).

I think my PSU is dead because in the last several months I have been coming back to my computer to find it turned off. Hitting the power button would not to a restart. I would actually have to switch off my PSU from the back for several seconds, then turn back on, then power on my computer.

I am about to just replace the PSU but wanted a second opinion as to if anyone thinks it could be a CPU issue?

Have you tried unplugging everything except mobo, gfx hd and see if it works then? Recently my powerpack went funny. It randomly wouldn't turn on. Sometimes it would turn on after a few goes, sometimes it wouldn't turn on for ages then I'd push the switch and it would just work. It ended up that for some reason one of my HD's (my main one) was causing the problem (even though it was never a problem before)... What I then noticed was once the PSU was running for 5-10 mins, if I plugged my HD in quick enough, it would power up and run just fine!

PSU's are funny, so it could well be PSU gone AWOL. I didn't wanna run the risk as my other PSU did not seem to be fully functional anymore (despite that it did work once "warmed up") so I bought an Antec Earthwatts 430W a few weeks ago.
