QX6850 hot?

I just powered up my computer for the first time and the CPU temps in the BIOS read 47-49 degrees. I am using a QX6850 and a Tuniq Tower 120. What could be the problem?

Ambient temps...bad seat of the Tuniq....too much too little thermalpaste.

Could also be your monitoring software, what are you using to see your temps?

It was in the BIOS. No software.

What should I do then? Reinstall the Tuniq?

If I understand you correctly these are the temps in celcius stated in Monitor Sytem:
CPU 37
Board 32
MCP 47

Ambient is your room temp.

The case is open and the temperature of my room is around 25 degrees celcius.

I used a VERY tiny amount of Windex by accident to clean off a fingerprint, could that cause the problem?

I'd download coretemp 95.4 http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/ and check your temps in windows.

If the temps are still 47-49c, then I'd reseat the Tuniq.

Well, I don't have Windows on my computer yet so should I install Windows and try?

Could the BIOS temps be inaccurate?

It is safe to use the CPU at the temperature right? I don't my CPU blowing up while installing windows..

Yes, you don't want it to go over 70c

How do I make sure it doesn't exceed that temperature while installing?

Also, has the BIOS been known to give wrong temps for the CPU?

Installing windows probably won't even bring one of the cores above 50% capacity. Even at those idle temps you should be fine. When you get into windows report back with the Coretemp readings.

Aiite, but seems like I've run into a problem when I choose which hard disk to install Windows on. I get this error: windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation.

Also, my computer seems very slow while installing windows vista.. is this normal?

Oops, I installed Windows Vista without partioning my drive..

Edit: nevermind, when it automatically reboot my system, it froze up...
