Quieting down P180 fans?

As reasonably quiet as the P180 is (on "L" for all fans), I'd like to get the noise down further. The CPU is quiet, the GPU is quiet, so I believe I just need some sort of temperature control for the fan speeds. That's for all three fans I guess - so I'll need two or three-zone temperature detection. What's the best way to do this?

I don't have the patience for intensive mods, so an off-the-shelf solution would be nice...

Thanks. I started from those sites and wandered over to Scythe's offerings.

I'm now thinking about three SFF21E's (Would D's be redundant with fan control?) and a Kama-Meter. What say everyone?

Edit: Do I really need the lower compartment fan with two 500Gb drives?
 
Need it? Probably not. But its always a good idea to give your hard drives some airflow. You can't really "cool" them since the hottest parts are inside the pseudo-airtight shell, but you can avoid unnecessarily cooking them. Its very cramped down in that bottom drive cage and gets virtually no airflow without a fan.

I personally don't use it, though. Also the SFF21Es are a good choice. It gives you the option of some higher airflow if you find they are quiet enough at full speed, and if not you can dial them down with the controller.

It wouldn't give them much airflow, no, but its not like they are going to catch fire. As with anything, running cooler is better than running hot.
 
For starters you could remove the top and bottom fans and tape off the top fan opening and it should be more tolerable; remove the plastic fan doors in the front to improve the airflow a bit, especially for the drives. I'd recommend new fans though, the tricools are terribly loud.
 
Antec's fans are trash. Complete and utter crap. Don't even waste your time trying to quiet them.

I'm using Scythes (Panaflos,) very happy with them in my P180. Not happy with my P180 - swore off Antec's poor quality a while back, but got too much of a deal on it. Now I know why.

I am very much interested in an Antec Case, either the p180 or the p182. While I want to put together a decent system, probably overbuilt for my intended use, the goal is to make the thing quiet.

Ronco, you stated you did not like the build quality of the Antec case. What would people recommend in a Mid-Tower configuration that had the same sonic qualities as the Antec case?

I am considering a Q9450 on a Rampage Formula (or if out Extreme) Mobo with a Thermalright IFX-14

What other case might I consider? I am a bit worried about the IFX-10 cooler (CPU undercooler) might not fit in the case. Anyone have any experience?

I agree, the Tricool fans are crap. I have a P180 and a P182 the top fan in both of them died after about 2 months.
 
Tri-cools are terrabad. I put some Yate Loon high speed fans in mine, and it's a TON quieter. The stupid fan on my PSU is the loudest thing in my case. I'm tempted to replace it with one of the 12cm fans I have just to quiet it down a bit.

whatever fan you get, don't buy another tri-cool. They don't move that much air (even on high speed) for the noise they make.
 
They didn't get a particularly bad rap on SPCR, but clearly they're too loud for the air they move. I've placed the Scythes on order. If it works out I'll roll it out to all my P180 EU's.

I don't actually have any problems with the quality of the P180's. The cabling paths couId be better but on balance I think they're fine.
