Just bought a Raidsonic enclosure with a single 80mm fan. It's not that bad but the fan makes this sort of rattling 'punka-punka-grrrrrr' noise as it spins and I'd like to have a go at replacing it with something a) more balanced and b) quiet.

The system does have variable fan speed adjustable from the front panel, either a thermally triggered auto or three manual speeds - not sure if this is voltage regulated or PWM.

Suggestions please

i have a number of Gelid Silent series fans (1/2 dozen silent 12's ) and a couple 80mm's and a 92mm for my shuttle mini cube thing

anyways... I am very please with the performance to noise ratio of these fans and they are pretty inexpensive also..

so I'd have no problem throwing the 80mm out there...

and the 4pin PWM 900-2000rpm version

mwave seems to be cheapest source for the gelid's (slightly) from what I have seen...

hiper made some 80mm low profile fans but they didn't put out a lot of air.. but they were dead silent. there was a stash at my local computer shop... hard to find now but if you're interested I can see if they have more.

Thanks. Gelid vs Noctua? (Given that the Noctua is on paper quieter)

Noctua and NB will have a better tone than the Geild, though the few guild I have heard are not bad, they just don't have the tone quality of the higher brands, however NB and Noctua do have a heavy price tag.

Price worry for a fan? Jeez.

Guess I'm going Noctua - it's usually a default choice for me but I wondered if there was anything better.

I think Sanyo Denki Quiet Series are better. But not cheap and kinda hard to find.
You can get em at mouser or newark (mouser is usually cheaper) with bare wire leads.
I think mouser has low, med, and full speed in stock.

Hmmm - San ace does look pretty good.

Will take a look.Thanks
