Hi

whats the quietest 600w psu you can get under load

i tried a seasonic M12 but under load the thing is bloody loud

The M12 has the 60mm fan.

Try the S12. What are you trying to power? I can assure you that unless it's like octel quad sli with 48 cpu's and a 128 disk array of 23k scsi's, you won't be drawing 600w.

Other alternatives: S12-EP 650, Corsair HX 620

my system is a E6600 @ 3.6 8800GTS 4xHDDs 2xOptical drives

I am kind of in the same boat. I like the S12-600 personally, but read that there were reliability issues. I plan on running a single mid-range card. I was hoping for a PSU that would handle a complete upgrade even 2-3 years in the future.

Enermax 600 noisetaker, the thing is inaudible and I mean that, I have 3 and I cant hear a fuxing thing coming from them when the pc's are on, I hear all the other fans and even the harddrives before I would ever hear the psu making a noise, thats how quiet they are.

If I never had any main fans ( intake/exhaust/cpu) at all in my pc, I would hear the harddrives and then the chipset fan then vid card and phyics card fans way before I would hear the psu.

uber quiet.

Silent PC Review recently updated their list of PSUs. Might be a good "short list" to use for selecting one.

So far I really like my XClio 600W. (just got it recently)

It has a 140mm fan and specs that beat everything else in its price range (efficiency, amps, etc)!! 4 PCIe connectors (for SLI 8800's)

My whole system is so quiet I had to put the harddrive in a "silencer" enclosure.

My FSP FX600-GLN is dead silent ... MUCH quieter than previous PSUs (Ultra V-Series 500w and Sunbeamtech NUUO 550w).

Seasonic m12 600, i cant hear it one inch away (granted, it doesnt seem to push an air either, but its been dead stable)

If you don't plan on upgrading to SLI, then this will be perfect. Alternative
I got the 550w version and it's dead silent even when it ramps up the fan speed when needed. It's rock solid on the rails as well. The only thing I can hear in my case at this point is my 74GB Raptor.

me too thats why I bought the harddrive silencer enclosure! :)

Thats odd.... I got the Xclio 650W and its actually kind of loud when it ramps up! Maybe I got screwed ?
