Hey folks,

I am looking for a somewhat quiet PSU for the ATI 4870 or possibly the 4870X2 depending on when I finally do end up putting together my new system.

The system will be a Q6600 with 4GB of ram, 2 HD's and 1 DVD player + wireless network card.

With the above components what do you think would be a decent PSU? Initially I had my eye on the Corsair 620, but I'm worried this might not be enough power.

So I guess the next step is something in the 800+ range. Could any of you recommend a PSU that would be adequate for my configuration and preferably something that is quiet.

Thanks,

Dave

the 620 corsair could easily power that setup... but i would get the 750w corsair just because its cheaper from Provantage ($106.42 with $20 MIR).. granted if you need modular then go for the 620 for the extra money. the fans on the corsair PSU's arent loud at all you'd be fine with any of them.

Just a few questions.

How can I calculate how much power I actually need, I guess when would I need 750W - 1000W PSU?

Will I have just enough power with the 620W? If I go with the 1000W are these a lot louder?

a decent 750w PSU could even run a crossfire setup of 4870's....you wouldnt be pushing it using the 620w for a single one dont worry.. you could even use the 520w corsair and be fine as long as you dont run a whole case full of peripherals lol.
