Quiet LGA775 HSF?

What's a good LGA775 HSF? I'm more worried about noise than CPU temperature, as I don't overclock (much).

I found some reviews at Overclocker cafe, but they're poorly written and don't give me much information. From the three there, I would go with the Thermaltake Silent LGA775, I think.

Has anyone here used a Dynatron P12? It's passive, and I can't believe it would be good at cooling an aggressively used Prescott. Their P21 looks neat, but I'm worried it will be loud.

What about this TR2TT A4013-02 ? It went out of stock; is it worth waiting for? Is it made by TR2TT, or Thermaltake? The NewEgg listing says it has a 3-pin power connector; don't LGA775 boards have a four-pin connector on the motherboard for the fan?
 
How much better is the 7000 than the 7700? They're not listed as LGA775-compatible at newegg; what doodads and adapters do I need to buy to make 'em work?
 
no no no, hte 7700 is better, its a 120mm version instead of 90mm of the 7000, but the 7700 wont fit on my board (neo2)

i believe there is a little adapter for the 7000 to fit on LGA, as it came out before teh LGA socket, and the 7700 is native

Thanks for the clarification! Indeed, the 7000 doesn't have the adapter; the adapter for it looks like a real hack. The 7700 has a backplate and a much more sensible-looking mounting solution.

The only thing I don't like about the 7700 is the fan itself. If I get something like an XP-90, the fan is easily replaceable with any fan of the proper size.

How would I replace the fan in a 7700?
 
Good idea. The stock Intel fan can drive you crazy. Here's a couple of other options.

I'm going to try the Nexus PHT-7750. It clips in using the standard mounting holes as opposed to using a mounting bracket under the motherboard.

The Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 also looks good for a regular clip on unit. I might get that if the Nexus doesn't ship soon.

No kidding!!1! The Intel HSF is so whiny, I can't believe their isn't revolt in the streets.

The Nexus looks nice; thanks for the link.

My only hang-up (with both the 7700 and that Nexus) is that the fan isn't shielded. The Nexus has the same problem. It sounds dopey, but if the fan isn't covered, I find that any time I tinker in the case a cable or wire gets pushed into the blades and I want to avoid that.

I'll probably go with the Zalman CNPS7700-ALCU.
