I need a quiet and good quality 1000Watt PSU for a new build. I usually get Enermax units but the one I have currently gets really loud during heavy usage which is annoying, perhaps the newer units are a bit quieter (like the Revolution 85?) Any other suggestions?

can't go wrong w/ Corsair HX1000, I've used them in 4 different builds and never had any issues w/ noise or power

All PSUs get somewhat to very loud under max load. That's why you might be better off just getting a 1200w PSU if you're approaching 1000w of usage (in other words, ~1200w from the wall). The HX1000 is also an older model now (and it does get loud under load, just try overvolting two Fermi GF100 chips on it).

The newer top-ranked PSUs are all coming in 1200w flavor these days anyway.

What's your budget and what parts will you be powering? Some general suggestions are the Corsair AX1200, Antec HCP-1200 or HCP-1000, Kingwin Lazer Gold 1000W, NZXT HALE90 1000W, and the Silverstone ST1000-P. The HX1000 is an old design and at this point there are much better and cheaper options available.

If you are powering something that draws over 800W, the quietest PSU from SilverStone for that is the ST1500.
