Hey guys, can you give me some ideas on mounting an HD so it might be a little more quiet? Currently, have have a Maxtor Diamond Max 9 SATA 160GB drive. It's got noisy access arms on it. I have the WD 74GB Raptor on the way and it will have loud access noises too. How can I mount these guys in the case with noise in factor?

Rubber mounts or something?

How about your cool ideas that you have done? I'd like to hear them.

Also, what about the PC tower mat they can sit on? Do they help too?

Personally I would mabey try some rubber gromets and put them on the mounting holes...

Also I would mabey put a sheet of dynamat or some sound dampening material on each of the side panels, that would quiet down the overall system.

there are some foam surrounds you can get to enclose the drive but I would never really feel comfortable putting those on a modern harddrive with all the heat and all.
