for the 23462th time..

Does any one have experience with the so called "silent fans"? Vantec, and their Stealth Fan is the main one I know of, I'm sure there are a few others.

Are they silent as I hope they are? I'm running 5 80mm Sunon case fans, 1 120 PSU, and one noisy as hell CPU Delta. I really want to quiet it down so I can keep it on while I sleep which is nearly impossible to do right now.

For $70 or so, I can silence it the best way I know how: get 5 Stealth fans, and a different Delta fan. Do you think I'll get the bang for my buck? Would putting a few of my fans on 7 volts help very much? Any other ideas or suggestions for quieting my beast?
 
I've had really good luck with Papst fans. They're quiter than Panaflos, at least in my experience. As for the Vantec fans, I can't say... never used them.
 
I have 2 80mm Vantec Stealths in my case. They're not "OMG I've got no fans running!" silent, but they're not loud at all. You can hear 'em start and stop with the computer (when close to the case), but get used to it, and I don't think they'd keep you from sleeping. The "noise" is just a low humm. They're rated at 21 dBa.

I can't say for Panaflos or Papsts, since I never tried 'em, but I'm sure these two can be quieter than a Stealth, not by really much though.

Oh, and the Vantec's create a bit more airflow than the low speed Panaflos for the same 21 dBa (27cfm vs 24cfm). Those are manufacturer's ratings, dunno if they can compare.
