Originally I was set on the 750W corsair, but in the interest of trying to keep the inside a bit neater I'm on the hunt for a non-SS based modular PSU that is decently quiet. Ideas, recommendations?

Silverstone Strider/ST series PSU
Corsair HX series PSU

Newegg also has an "Advanced Search" function that can weed out specific PSU types.

I would take corsair but both of their modulars are SS based and more than a few have had issues with the PSU buzzing under load. My bro in particular had a 620 and RMAed it and the problem remained, which leads me to believe it is a design issue rather than a bad PSU.

I guess I should say I'm looking for 600W+ CWT based PSUs.

The lowest Revolution85+ is the 850...12 SATA connectors and 70A combined on the 12v rail. Lol. Probably not going to see a trickle down until much later, considering the press release is just 2 weeks ago.

The Thermaltake Toughpower 750W is a CWT PSH-750 and is also modular. Basically a modular TX750.

heh the case I am getting is the FT01, so the hx1000 would be a bit large + overkill for my system. I guess I'll be taking a look at the thermaltake 750W, assuming it is just a modular TX750

heh I have access to my bro's 620HX since he hasn't sold it yet, but there's a reason I'm not taking it off his hands--buzzing issue which he experienced twice, so I'm avoiding SS based PSUs because of this.

O whoops didnt see that, hmm, I have a 520 and a 620 and like them both :) what does it mean to be SS based?

Is their a reason you don't want a SeaSonic power supply? (perhaps the extra 60 mm fan?)

I ask for I just bought the m12 700w just yesterday, at a good price and prior to buying it I have only heard good things about SS besides noise level near load.
