I have a strange issue. Every time I try to open a picture from my XD card using quicktime my computer locks up. I can open the picture with any other picture viewing program with no issues. If I copy the picture to my hard drive first then quicktime will open it just fine. I have found no new drivers for my card reader (built into laptop) and I have the latest version of quicktime. I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if they know a way to fix it. Thanks in advance.

what's the picture format being opened ??
does this happen for all images -- regardless of type (gif, jpeg, pict, etc.) ??
who made your laptop (brand, model, service code) ??
are there any updates (perhaps bios) available from the manufacturer ??

The picture format is jpeg and it does not matter if I am trying to view pictures taken with my camera or if I copy pictures from my hard drive to the XD card. I have only tried jpeg images because that is all I care about. I have checked with the manufacturer of the laptop (Toshiba) and there are no updates for anything on the laptop. Quicktime is the latest version also. When I try to open a picture from the XD card quicktime locks up and explorer locks up until I eject the card. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

are you using quicktime to just view the files, or do you have a professional version that is incorporating jpegs?

if you're just using quicktime to view the images, then the quickest solution would be to use a different application to view jpegs. otherwise, you should think about making a posting on this in the apple.com support forums.

not an answer, but i hope this provides some alternate approaches :)
