Quick video card benchmarking software (windows)

I was wondering if anyone knew a good quick (time wise) benchmarking software for modern video cards. PerformanceTest is quick, but it really is a crappy benchmarking software for 3D as it just blatently sucks; sorry can't place my finger on it, but it does.

Anyone know of a benchmark that just runs quick so I can test performance gains quickly without having to go through a long process?

Well in the time it took for you to type that and wait for a reply, i'm sure you could have went through a full run of 3dmark06 or vantage. Video cards are capable of many different effects and different architectures may be more efficient doing one thing versus another, that's why the "good" benchmarks take a while, because they test several aspects of the cards performance

Start up your favorite game at a given level that generally is hard on your graphics card..?

Fair enough, was just wondering if there was something that would test and quantify processing power on a GPU within 5 seconds or so.

Any processing power? DirectComputeBenchmark should do the trick. It should also be quick enough, few minutes on older cards and seconds on newer ones.

yep, read the specs

really irrelevant in a practical sense, as newer hardware is more optimized for this kind of workload, about as worthless as 3DMark

OP:
real-world #'s are the best
otherwise, if you just want something thats quick'n'dirty and can show if you've made your system unstable, the basic little 3D bench on UltimateBoot CD is fine, AquaMark 3 if you want a bit bigger package

explanation of why you cannot just "do it in 5 seconds":
a 3D benchmark derives a score by averaging render output performance over a given (standardized) period of time to simulate a real-word scenario, this cannot be done in 5 seconds
DirectComputeBench is simply having the GPU crunch some large number, like superpi, its irrelevant on the whole because non-supporting hardware won't have a chance, and the amount of optimization that exists for GPGPU math is ridiculous

basically, you can't have everything "instantly", learn patience, it will serve you well
