i currently have roadrunner connected to my desktop at home and i was wondering how would i share internet with my laptop. and would this slow my internet connection down? sorrry if this is a dumb question.

best way is to buy a consumer router... a router won't slow your actual internet connection down (unless it is broken) at all... but obviously, if you've got one computer downloading a lot, then it will slow down the other's connection to the internet...

thanks for the response would i need a wireless adapter card or something like that if i just want to connect a router to my desktop my motherboard is a gigabyte p35-ds3r

If you get a wireless router you can still connect your desktop PC via a wired connection. Every wireless router I have seen still includes at least 4 or so wired ports you can connect with.
