I'm sure some of you guys have played with these before, so I figured I should ask. If I were to buy a PowerEdge SC1435 with a Dual-Core AMD, could I replace it and also drop in another quad core?

Basically, my question is are there different motherboard configurations for the SC1435 that would not have the ability to use dual quads? Or can I buy pretty much any one and be able to expect this upgrade path?

This is just for a cheap virtualization server for my house. I wanted 8 cores and ~8GB of RAM, and this appears to be a cheap option.
 
Well, Dell machines have always been finiky for me. I for one would call them and find out if the PE would handle a quad, get a quote from them with the cpu model for the upgrade, then buy the same model somewhere cheaper
 
Well, I see SC1436s with dual Opteron 2376s.

But it would be cheaper for me to buy a low-end SC1435 and get two 2376s and install myself. I just worry there are like single socket SC1435s or something.
 
My PE SC1435 is running dual Opteron 2376's. If you can get the S/N, you can call up Dell and ask if you can upgrade with a quad-core kit on the unit. Be careful; Dell is notorious for having a single socket and a dual socket board for their server models.
