Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
When I tried posting a reply to hot deals discussion via quick reply after my session had logged out I got an error saying I didn't have enough posts made; not that I was logged out.
Normal, because you need something like 50 posts minimum to post in Hot Deals and FS/FT. The counter takes precedence over "you must be logged in to post."
Dan, could you clarify the issue a bit? Now obviously you meet the 50 post minimum, but you're saying that you logged out, and then tried to post....and the message you received stated that you didn't meet the post minimum; but you think it should say that you're logged out.
Now if that's an accurate understanding of what you wrote, why are you trying to post while logged out? Not really understanding what you're asking here. I did try logging out, and hitting "post reply" in Hot Deals, and I was given the message that you need at least 50 posts to post there....but I'm not understanding why that would be an issue.
This was my fist visit to the site on this computer. When I logged in I neglected to check the keep logged in box. I opened about 20 threads in separate tabs, was reading through them and apparently went logn enough without posting a reply to anything that I exceeded the idle timer. I got an error that didn't make sense to me; and because the AJAX only updated the quick reply area not the login status my initial reaction was that a site bug was resulting in my post status not being currectly checked.
Session Timeout
This is the time in seconds that a user must remain inactive before their login session expires. This setting also controls how long a user will remain on Who's Online after their last activity.
@Oldie
The cookies do expire in relation to the session when not logged in, like lethal posted, that note by the developers will be overrode when using the "remember me" tic box though.
