Quick RAID1 question

I want to set up a RAID1 system using Mac OS, my MBP, and an external enclosure.

How easy is it to separate the RAID drives when I'm done with them? If I hand a client the second drive of the RAID1 set, is it just a matter of him mounting it for use? or is there an additional step for him to use the drive individually? It would be great if it were just plug and play for him.

I couldn't find this specific question through the search.
