Which is the better buy:
Sapphire Radeon 9800SE 128MB (122.55) or
Sapphire Radeon 9600XT 256MB (£140.68)
ie 9800 less RAM or 9600 more RAM?
I'll be gaming and doing 3D work
The above prices are from the UK EBuyer website. If you know a cheaper outlet let me know
 
Go for the 9600XT, it has more RAM, but really, I think it will perform better.
 
The 9600XT and the 9800SE are fairly close with them trading places sometimes. The advantage is if you can find a retail 9600XT you can get a free copy of Half-Life 2 if you are a fan. For a little more money tho, see if you can find a good deal on a 9700Pro or a 9800Pro and you will see a good size improvement over any 9600 series or the 9800SE cards.
