If I swap my p4 1.6a fsb with a p4 2.8 533 fsb, would it work? Would I be able to just simpy switch the cpus and leave the HSF where they are?
 
I don't get it. More explicit question perhaps?

you wanna take a cpu out without detaching it from the HSF?
 
as long as your cpu supports 533fsb cpu's itll work, you can run upto the 3.06p4 and maybe the 533 prescotts.
