i plan on building a shuttle here in a few weeks, i currently have a TI4600 and get good fps in the games i play, ( cs, cod, q3, and some UT ) However, ti4600's are kind of hard to come by now, and i was just wondering what card would be in the same catagory as one. I've been reading reviews on the evga 5700ultra with the ddr2 memory, it' seems to perform quite well, along with that i can pick one up at bestbuy for 200 bux, or newegg for 179. I was just wondering what i could expect out of it, better fps and performance? or roughly the same.. ?

thanks

If you are set on staying with nvidia then for the money you would be better going for the 5900 as the 5700 looks good on paper but it bombs in performance compared to your ti4600;)

But if you want still the pretty much near top end of performance then the 9700Pro from newegg is a steal;)

thats the thing, it will be going in a shuttle, therefore the 5900/u is out of the question, because it won't fit. I'd really like to stay with nvidia :\ i don't even use AF/AA in cs, or quake3.. I just want a newer card that performs better and doesn't bog down as much as mine does now

I think you can find some of the 9600Xt's low profile enough to fit in the shuttle boxes and while they arent going to break the 3dmark soundbarrier they are no slouch either and when dx9 is put in the picture they are a good upgrade from a ti4600;)

Have you taken a look on newegg or bestbuy;)
