Is there some kind of setting I can change to make it so when I click on the User CP link it takes me directly to the control panel instead of that drop down box? I love pretty much all of the changes to the forum, but that is going to drive me absolutely nuts.

It's actually a step backwards in functionality, as it used to require 1 click to view the User CP and then 1 more click to view everything else. Now, it requires 2 clicks to view everything. I'm not sure why this "feature" was implemented.

Other than that, keep up the great work. Forums are FLYING on my machine right now.

Thanks.

Yeah, I can't really understand why they would implement that. Please change it back.

Here are reasons why....

1. The menu is designed to benefit all, not the few.
2. Its far easier for everyone to click twice from the start (drop menu) than it is to click to the usercp page, then scroll down the page to, once again, click another link to get to "edit options" page, as now the edit options is in the new drop menu, without having to scroll on the usercp page itself to find other links to another page.

If you can't handle clicking twice, you don't need to be on the internet.

siged :p

/edit nm I can't

The drop down menu doesn't work with Firefox 3.0.8 on a mac. The drop down menu doesn't appear...

/edit #2...If I hover over the community drop down menu and then bring it back to the ucer cp menu, it shows up...that's weird

Well considering it's designed to benefit the many, that's yet another argument for putting it back to the way it was. Let me explain:

On my laptop, with it's lowly 1400x900 resolution, I don't have to scroll down to get to edit options. Most of us here on this forum are running monitors at least 20 or 21 inches, with resolutions of at least 1440x900. Thus, the only people who have to scroll to get to edit options are the minority.

In fact, once that message about the corrupted PM's goes away, even with a 1024x768 resolution the entire CP page will fit without scrolling.

In other words, your post is irrelevant.

Actually your the minority, as your the only one asking at this point.

If you can get the other 1000 members online to post here and request the change back, it wont make your post irrelevant.

Mac's have always had a issue with the vbulletin drop menus, is it doing it on all of them?

Yeah, I was just at another forum (the horror I know :p) that's using an older version of vbul and it did the same thing...

You don't need thousands to realize you've made a mistake. It might've been a good idea in theory, but implemented is clearly a poor decision. You're clicking twice no matter what, so there is in actuality no difference. The difference is now I have an annoying menu pop up that I have no intention of using.

How often do you think people need to change their settings?

Can you even read this thread? So far, you're outnumbered 3:1 in this thread alone! And the change has only been in effect for not even 24 hours yet. Go ahead, create a poll. I'd bet money it will turn out in my favor.

Plus, not even you would argue that people check subscribed threads far more than they change settings. For me, it adds up to a couple of hundred extra clicks per day. It's just a step backwards in functionality.

Edit: Are you the guy that made the changes? No wonder you're so defensive. If you're really interested in doing the best for the community, create a poll. If most people want it your way, then I don't have a problem with that. If not, change it back.

Defensive? why would i be, your the only one complaining about it.

As your the only one worried about, why don't you create a poll and get the other 1000 current online members to vote to change it.

I'll quote something from one of Kyle's posts.

If you'd like to file a complaint, do it here. www.vbulletin.com

Why not make it both? Go to CP upon clicking CP, menu upon clicking the arrow.

i don't like it either and its what i was asking anthony g ;)

why not just have both listed at the top? i think that would be fair

Because AnthonyG is on a power trip and refuses to believe that he might have made a poor layout decision?

FWIW the drop down is working fine in Firefox 3.0.8, Firefox 3.1b3, Opera 9, Safari 4, Webkit, and Camino in Leopard...

i'm not sure what anthony meant but i think he meant if you hover your mouse on it it should drop down. it doesn't do that for me, ff 3.1b3? that would be somewhat ok if it did.
