Hi Guys,

Just a quick question: I currentely have 2 Gb of memory on my PC ( Corsair TwinX 2GB Kit (2x1GB) 240Pin PC2-8500 Dominator 1066MHz Dual Channel). As I've bought Vista 64 I was thinking to buy some more memory. I was thinking in buying more 4Gb (2x 2Gb) and have a total of 6Gb. My motherboard is a Rampage Formula. Any reason why this shouldn't work? And what brand do you advise me to go for?

Thanks for the help

No reason it shouldn't work, only thing I can think of is if you are pushing your computer (read: heavy OC), with all 4 dimm slots filled up, your going to need to increase your NB voltages and overall heat production. I don't have any experience with the Rampage Formula so someone else might want to chime in about possible problems.

Right now I'm running a P35 board with 6gigs in 4DIMM slots, no problems for me, they are running at 950mhz 5-5-5-12 @1.8v. 2x2gig Crucial Ballistix and 2x1gig Gskills both at different ratings.

But if you do have a choice, I'd recommend a least getting another set of corsair 2x2gbs which are rated the same. Otherwise, enjoy your 6gb.

In general, it's not a good idea to mix n match module types/densities/speeds etc. You can try it but, you may get a pair that won't run together. Ideally you should add the EXACT same memory but, that is not an option in this case.
