I am currently looking for a 24"monitor to buy for my new pc, unfortunately due to my budget Í cant really afford to buy the really nice models for NEC.
I need the screen for my computer and also I wanted to hook up my ps3 with a hdmi->dvi converter.

Unfortunately the only 24" monitors with 2 dvi inputs that are of good quality seems to be the NEC and Eizo screens which I can't afford.

However I was thinking if i bought the Dell 2407 (Just about as expensive as I can buy, btw I am in Switzerland so I can't take advantage of deals in the US) although it has only 1 connection I figured I could simply unplug and replug between my ps3 and pc, this wouldn't be more than twice or so per week. However changing a connection on the back of the monitor seems like a real pain, so here is my question:

Can I use a dvi extension cable? this way the monitor, pc and ps3 cables could be nicely attached to the side of my desk where it is accessible.

Would this work? and if so are there any downsides to using a short extension? (1-2 feet only)
