Quick question with Switchtech MCW6000 waterblock

Im currently running a MCW6000 waterblock for my socket 775 system. It has a stepped base to run on the 775/socket A systems. I was wondering if anyone has tried using one of these on a A64 system. I was thinkin about upgrading my system, and was wondering if I had to change my WB, I know I woudl have to get a new hold down, but was wondering if anyone thinks this little step would create a problem of coolin a a64.

I would think so. Judging by the overall dimensions of the block, 90% of the IHS would still be covered, which is fine. The focus will be removing heat from the center of the die, which would still happen. I know there are a few aftermarket heatsinks that don't cover the IHS completely, but as long as it makes good contact with the center and most of the IHS, you will be good. Now if you are planning on getting a dual core processor...I'd wait for some further input on this. Depending on the orientation of the dies, it may miss a bit of the second die, but if just single core, it will surely suffice.
 
Yea i was going to get a X2. Its the only thing that would make any sense for me to upgrade to. I have no worries about my current WC system handling the heat load of the dual core, but I was just hoping if someone has tried etc. It looks like most of hte chip would be covered, and I assumed that as long as its covered in the center there isnt a problem. I guess one of hte only ways to really know is the try it and see how much of the IHS isnt covered on the 64. Im not sure, How much bigger is the 939 chips compared to the 775 p4s? Are the a lot bigger.
