quick question regarding the maxtor 300 gig hd

i recently bought a maxtor 300 gig sata hard drive and i have been trying to get it to work on a ABIT IC7-G MAXII motherboard everytime i put it in one of the avaible slots (2 channel Serial ATA via South Bridge) windows wont boot or it wants to use it as the boot drive before my two raptors (2 channel Serial ATA via Silicon Image PCI Chip) and my intention is to have it just as a storage drive any help would be appreciated

Check the setting in the bios. Install it, turn it on, and go immediately to the bios, and see what the boot order is. It might be saying

#1 - Floppy
#2 CDROM
#3 Maxtor whatever, and you have to change it back to the raptor.
