I'm wiring a dedicated line for my DSL modem from the main block using cat5e ( I have a ton). My question is, since I'm only using 2 wires, is there any reason to terminate any of the others? Can i just terminate 2 in the 4 wire jack since this is for the modem only?

Thanks

That's all I've ever done. I take the last 3 pairs and wrap them around the the cat 5 cable so they are out of the way. They are nice in case you want to use them someday for some reason

A twisted pair is ideal since the twist helps protect against interference. It shouldn't be an issue, considering that Cu POTS lines are likely in worse condition, but a twisted pair is ideal.
