I am not really fluent in computer audio talk, but I have a question on headphones + amps and soundcards.
I own the x-fi titanium HD right now, and had an auzentech x-fi forte prior to this (died after 2 years). My headset is a DT770 Pro, but I can't remember if it's the 80ohm or the 250ohm version.
However, I feel as though the headphones don't get as loud as they could with my current Titanium HD and even with the Forte from before. Does that have to do with the amps not being up to par, or is it because of my headphones? Supposedly the headphone amps on the soundcards are as good as standalones, but I would think that if I put my sound in the control panel on 50+ it would get ridiculously loud, but going from 40-100 there isn't a huge difference. I don't even really know what I am trying to ask other than, is this how it's supposed to be?
