hi,

can someone tell me what would happen if i added a bfg 285 OCFU to my 2x zotac 285 amp edition cards to make tri-sli?

i mean would they all set the same overclock if the bfg was primary?

or would they all go the same as the zotac overclock?

thankyou

None of the clocks would change. You could overclock them to the same settings with EVGA's precision if you wanted to, but you don't have to.

Side note: I hope that CPU of yours is running at 4Ghz (if not more) if you want to see an increase from Tri-SLI.

thanks all for the replies.

yes im already using the evga precision which iv done so for over 2 years now with my previous setup from evga.

my i7 is at 4.0g althought iv seen many other users with 3.8 to 3.9ghz on air on other forums with tri-sli and quad-sli as the available bandwidth is better than previous 775 architecture.

anyway my main reason was the evga 8800gt o/c KO version i was using before replacing with the bfg (this weekend) was slowing my setup down in games with physx i mean just in vantage i had a drop of just over 2000 points compared to if i just left the sli zotac 285s to do it.
so felt since i could get an additional card at a good price althought them and 275s are harder to get hold of since production is ramping down to a standstill, id rather replace the 8800gt altogether with another 285 of the same speed gaining extra horspower i need when playing on my large screens and extra partial physx boost.

i aint upgrading my cards for ages anyway so im not going to nvidia this new generation as i see no need but just wanted to know if the higher rated bfg card would automaticly downclock to the same speed as the zotac amps level which you have both confirmed wont happen...so thats good to know.

never went quad sli as that does need a lot of cpu muscle around 5ghz im told but is not optimsed as well as tri-sli in games.

anyway thanks for the info guys and have a nice christmas :)

regards

Rhino
