i was just wondering on your opinon on the most professional looking case. im building 2 computers for 'clients' and id like more of a professional look than just crazy designs and stuff (but i still want a nice, easily usable case, that doesnt look too old fashioned ;)).

i think im going to go with a black or silver lian-li, but not sure.

pics + links welcome, thx in advanced! :D

i would deffinately say the lian li's gvie a "prefessional" feel...them or the silver stones...check a silver stone out at www.fastlanehw.com and there is a reveiw right at top.. has it's flaw's but overall a very nice case

chicken, u ever own a lian li? i thought the same thing, but i bought one, and it's so nice, it's not like the TT's that are flashign with a billion bright blue LED's but it's stylish, i love mine...

A friend of mine has one...and yeah...I don't like it very much. It is nice because they have a ton of space on the inside. But not worth how much it costs in my opinion.

I've got a Lian-Li. It is very sleek and clean. Worth it, in my opinion.

Well, what do you consider Professional? What are going to be the uses of the PC. When looking for a case, answer these questions and take a good look with your own eyes, go to a local PC Shop and take a look at their cases. I would suggest something along the lines of Antec(Not Chen Ming/ChenBro/Chieftec/Aspire) or Lian Li. If you become so desperate in finding something that suits your specific needs, build your own....:D

When I think professional, I think of a case that doesn't call attention to itself. A beige or black case with simple, elegent lines is what I consider professional looking. It might not be MY first preference, but I don't think that a professional would care much about the look of his or her computer case unless it was in a very visible location.

I have to say this, I purchased a LIAN-LI case, the pc-61, and OMG guys, these cases are designed for PERFECT airflow, if its not a fan opening, its sealed off for the best performance

I will hav to say out of the hundreds ive spent trying to find that perfect case, I will never turn my back on LIAN LI anymore, hella good stuff guys

But I want somethin' with nice airflow but still cool as hell, like a side window and LEDs everywhere :-D

thanks tons guys. i order off newegg for hardware and software. and theres only a few choices of lian-li's.

i think ill go with the lian-li pc-65. theres only thing i dont like, only one fan in the rear. but that could be fixed with easy modding, or like you say, i might not need it due to great airflow :)

where can i get the aluminum drive covers for a lian-li? i definately dont want beige or black drives on a silver case.

silver and blue wouldnt look too bad :D

thx again guys for your opinions

Your local retail computer store should have those drive covers; possibly not large chains but smaller mod friendly shops definetly should. There are also various online stores that have them, just google it.

GL on your purchase, I'm sure you'll enjoy it :) I've had a Lian-Li black PC-65B for around a year and it has been nothing but excellent. Air flow is amazing...one thing I would recommend is investing in some Lian Li thumb screws, boy are those handy.

i have, and i agree that they are boring and overpriced.

(thats right i'm back, son!)

but anyhow, my vote is for silverstone.

they make some tidy-ass parts, of late.

second place, prolly a coolermaster. like a praetorian or a 710.

but have you actually USED one? Lian Li is better than any other case Ive ever used, period. And I've used a LOT of cases.

for ur drive covers, why dont u just stealth them?

that makes a nice clean look w/o spending much money

actually, yes, as a matter of fact, i've built about a dozen systems in them (not by choice).

the curved bit on the inside is garbage, as it interferes with proper IDE ribbonwork. Also, the metal is flimsly and i dont trust the door attachments.
The fact that the front bezel comes off like that is an immediate turn-off also.
in addition, the LED's are crap and on some motherboards don't light at full brightness. Furthermore, the fan grilles on the back back need to be cut out and replaced with normal ones. to further complicate things, the sideways hard drive mounting cages are nonsense and i have had many users complain of serious drive problems as well as disk failure as a result of this.

i've used a lot of cases, also. no need to get ornery.

Good case, i have my HTPC in one and it sits under all my other stereo equipment. I would definatly NOT recomend this case for a main computer because it's most likely going ot take up WAY too much space. Thery are a lot deeper then you think they are. It's a good case though, comes with a nice powersupply. Heat could be an issue in some cases because the only intake is through the PSU, but i've had no such issues.

Side by side I took the Cooler Master 201 over Lian Li. It appealed to me more visually, and then features like the removable motherboard tray just clinched the deal. Don't regret the decision a bit. If money wasn't an object, the Silverstone Nimitz gives me a chubby

im partial to cooler master, they just look so nice. the wave case is just the best looking case imo, the praetorian with the optical drive bezels would be a nice touch too

Hrm professional? I suppose that means understated, yet sleek and sophisticated? :D
If you want a clean look, I suggest the Soldam line of cases.

Here's the Soldam Altium:

And their flagship MT-PRO3000:

Looks simple and professional! :D

I was about to post the exact same thing. The Overture is a good professional one because it's nice and small, and I think people who don't mess around inside their computer like that a lot... Even people who mess around in their computer a lot are starting to like small cases like that more :p

are those SOLDAM cases available in the USA????

Wow  :D

I am impressed, those are really beautiful cases. :) Thanks so much for the info. Those are even better looking than the new Silverstone cases.

Looks like they're only sold off of their website. Soldam.com

Unfortunately that MT-PRO3000 is $834 w /shipping. Looks like no Soldam for me unless I win the lottery. :(

I can understand not liking Lian Li, I don't necessarily agree with what you say but you like what you like. But mounting your hard drives sideways does not cause failures. You may have seen some bad luck in them but that can happen anytime. I had a system with lose three seperate maxtor hard drives within 6 months of being built, but after those replacements it has lasted several years without the slightest problem. This was in a very normal Inwin midtower btw.

I would tend to recomend something like an Antec 3700 BQE for this though. Very similiar to the sonata, but cheaper, slightly less powerful power supply, and it's much less prone to smudging, fingerprints etc as the finish is not the extreme gloss of the sonata. My runners up would be the Sonata, Lian-Li and Cooler Master if one of those fits the look of where they will be better.

lets see

if you cant route the IDE ribbions in the case, you have no skill. period. i had no trouble, so how did YOU manage to?

the front bezel comes off if you really pull at it. it just doesnt fall off

you cant blame the LEDs for your mobo not putting out the right voltagte

most cases have that built in fan grill crap, i dont know what YOURE expecting

and if you honestly think that the cages are causing the failures, stop building computers now. not just because thats, well, IMPOSSIBLE, but because the cases come with a plate that lets you mount them horizontal.

personally depeinding on case size/use i would go with coolermaster. THey are all i have ever owned and amazing cases. The 710 is my case...i dont know if they make it anymore but, it s a perfect small server/powerstation type chassis.
