Quick question about the Aqua Cuplex XT & Twinplex

Does either of these blocks require a back plate i.e have to take out the mobo to mount them?
 
remove the 2 screws golding the black plastic bracket on, and just screw the support posts into the sockets that live underneath the plastic bit, thus using the original back plate

at least thats how it is on my MSI neo 4 SLi
 
The XT usually bolts to the existing mounting plate. Other than that you will have to use the supplied screws that have a plastic washer to protect the board for the TwinPlex. Depends on the CPU you are using.
 
Mine came with the wrong fittings - the springs I think. They're too stiff to compress...Either that or the bolts are too short.

I actually have it on WITHOUT springs... I try not to think about it too much:)

I don't think yours came with the "wrong" fittings per se. I had the same problem. It was virtually impossible for me to compress the springs given enough to screw on the nut jobbies without pushing my MB through my desktop surface.

I solved the problem by nabbing the springs out of the P4 install kit that I ordered in case I wanted to use my Cuplex XT on my P4. But until I thought of this, I did what you are doing <shudder>.

EDIT: My MB is the GigaByte NForce3 based AGP (haven't moved it to my DFI RDX200 CF-DR yet).

EDIT2: Had the same problem (needing to push so hard the MB would have split) on my MSI Neo2 as well.
 
I reported this problem to Aqua Computer on the first Cuplex XT that reached USA shores. They told me I was crazy and that it was really simple to get on. :mad: Almost everyone I know has said this same thing. The springs they send it with are the wrong springs period. The P4 springs work correctly. I drilled out my Asus backing plate and used the machine screws they supplied as an alternative. Even that was a real tussle to get on, but an extra 1/8" makes it barely doable.
