Okay, so I got a 160GB WD HDD SATA right and an ABIT KN8 Ultra mobo. now the mobo only has these 4 SATA uhh, spots i guess you would say. I plugged the hdd into one and everything goes smooth through the installation of XP SP2 and all that. it runs beautifully. My question however is that you know the taskbar at the bottom right, and when you have a usb device the little green arrow thing shows up, so you can stop the device and "safely remove it." You know, well, the hdd shows up there so I'm wondering if that's normal or what. Thanks.

Yep, thats normal. SATA is meant to be hot swappable, so it is telling you that its ok to remove the drive.

If it has your OS on it though, don't. :p

well, obviously, lol. I had a feeling that's what it meant. Is there anyway to hide the little icon though?

hmmm...cool. I am new to sata myself and didnt even realize that I could swap out that drive. You can hide that icon by right clicking the taskbar and going into properties, then customize the notification area and tell it to "always hide" that icon.
