Quick question about installing SSD in new alienware

Hey all! Just had a quick question I wanted to get some advice on :).

I just ordered a new alienware aurora desktop with SLI video cards.

However, when I ordered the system, I ordered a 3 TB harddrive. I recently found an extremely cheap samsung 250GB SSD on amazon and am looking to install it into my new alienware when I get it to have the OS/games run off of it.

Heres where my concern comes in:

To the best of my memory, when I last ordered an alienware desktop like 8 years ago, I think it came with an "alien respawn" cd or something like that. I don't think that I was actually supplied an official windows 7 os disc.

I guess the blunt question is:

Are there any experienced alienware buyers out there that know if they send an os disc? Or if they dont, does their respawn CD work just the same?

It's just that it's a new pc and I don't want to mess anything up installing this SSD right when I get it.

Thank you for any advice,
-Cheers.

Should be a partition on the harddrive with the recovery files. You should be able to boot into recovery partition, then reinstall to the SSD instead of the harddrive.

Got any blank DVD(+/-)Rs?
In my experience most systems don't come with any recovery disks but will have an option to write a set.

There's always the cloning option but that'll be rather more involved as you'll have to monkey with partitions to get it to work. Recently did such when moving the OS off a 750Gig spinning disk to a SSD on my laptop. took a bit to finally do this. (as I also blew away the recovery partition in the process.. :) )

You know it's funny that you say that. My dad is a cpu programmer and actually mentioned this. When I started googling my way around, I literally was only able to find people either doing a fresh OS install, or the clone option.

I deff think that this is the way I'll go as long as this partition is there. Dell Support actually gave me a link to the recovery image which I can burn to DVD but still if I can boot to the recovery partition that would be perfect.

Thanks a ton!
