Quick question about crashplan

I use crashplan and I have 2.7 TB of crap stored with them. And that is data from one of my 4 TB drives.

I use the other 4 tb drive as a back up to the first 4 tb drive.

DO I need that redundancy when I have all of my data on crashplan? Is crashplan a good enough storage depository that I can use the 2nd drive for data storage only and back it up to crashplan too?
 
The general rule is to have multiple backups via multiple media. Consider crashplan one type of media. You can't guarantee its going to be 100% reliable. Usually having one on-site and one off-site backup is the way to do it at the very least. The choice is really yours though. I'd rather rely more on the local backup when SHTF than be forced to use the cloud storage to re-download everything. The way I see it, right now you are paying a tax to have an extra bit of security on top of what you already got.
 
Crashplan itself will have redundancy, so short of them going belly up or you loosing network access, you should be safe.

However the downside is trying to download 4TB of information should you ever need to restore.

Rough math would be
4,000,000MB / 2MB per second download speed
Comes out to 2,000,000 seconds. Divided by 60 seconds gives 33,333 minutes. Divided by 60 minutes gives 555 hours.
Divided by 24 hours gives 23 days.
 
I like crashplan and use them. However I would not consider any company of being fault tolerant. Keep a local backup.
