does anyone have a picture or any experience with hooking up their widescreen lcd to their cable providers set top box? how is the picture quality and stuff?

there is no way im going to spend money on a HDTV tuner card if i can just hook up my hdtv box from comcast via 1080i component.

any pictures would be greatly appreciated :D

basically its for use in my room in my apartment since in the common room i already have a 60 inch lcd rear projection hdtv, i just need something hd in my room and that can act as my computer monitor as well

The monitor can't scale 16:9 480p content correctly via component, 720p works fine, not sure on 1080i or 1080p. I haven't figured out 4:3 yet but it doesn't look right to me, all 4:3 content on the monitor stretches out much further than say if I were to select a 4:3 resolution on desktop or watch a 4:3 movies on my PC. 4:3 via the PC has about 2 inches worth of space on the black bars on the side while 4:3 via component has about 1/2 worth of space appearing as though it's stretching out the image. I have no idea why but it appears to me that 4:3 isn't properly being scaled otherwise why would 4:3 content appear more pillerboxed in pc than via component?. I think the best thing to do would buy some kind of HDTV tuner or DVI-HDMI input (do they exist?) and use the pc as a scaler :(.
 
I have a Timewarner HD Box hooked up to it. There is only like 13 channels in HD, and they dont all have HD Content all the time, but maybe some of the stuff is 480p?

The stuff that fits to the screen looks awesome. YESHD is incredible
 
JB22 - How do you have your cable box hooked up, component? And what HD content are you watching, 720 or 1080?

Actually, i dont believe the monitor is HDCP compliant, therefore i think the only way to route an HDTV signal from an HDTV box would be via component. Someone feel free to correct me if i am wrong here, since i don't own the monitor, im not sure.
 
well im planning to run the cable box in 1080i HDTV mode and run it via component to the LCD since most cable boxes the stupid dvi isn't even active anyways (i know for the comcast hdtv box, you only can run HDTV signal via component) all the 4:3 stuff in just 480i since my cable box can either be on p or i mode and im not going to switch back and forth.

so im just making sure that it works and there is no artifacting problems or scaling issues.

i just want to make sure that the things that are broadcast in 16:9 like inhd, espnhd, and all the broadcast network hdtv content looks good so that i don't have to invest in a seperate HDTV lcd and just use the dell computer lcd that happens to have a component in.

any pictures of the LCD screen in action in conjunction with a cable box would be sweet.

With the new Nextgen Consoles coming out in pretty much all 1080i/p I was wondering, how well is the 2405FPW going to be displaying them?
 
I've had my Comcast HD box connected to the 2405fpw for the past two months and I love it...so does everyone else who comes over to check it out. I have pics of it broadcasting HD, but I'm at work. :( My brother has a Sony 34" XBR HD TV connected to comcast HD and they look very similar in quality.

One thing I have noticed is "tearing" when some text is being scrolled across the screen horizontally ie the sports ticker bar on ESPN HD. The effect is like dragging your windows around on the desktop...makes the ticker almost unreadable.
