Quick Processor Question: P4 630 Or P4 660?

Well, I'm currently processor shopping and with the new price cuts I can afford a new chip. I am looking at the 630 and 660. The 660 ($414) at mWave seems to be the sweet spot. Which should I go with?

I don't know if I'd call a $414 chip the "sweet spot". I'd say the 640 is the "sweet spot". That being said, I'm probably going to throw a 630 in my build that I'm putting together soon, as I don't have the funds for much more than that. If you have a the cash, the 660 is a great chip, however.

Go with the 660 if you can afford it. Then OC it even more. Just make sure you get a good heatsink. P4's run pretty hot.

People are saying the 630Js are the new OCer's dream. Just like the 550Es, 1.6As, and 2.4Cs... I'm getting one for my new machine.

I think I'll have to raise the B.S flag on that one, unless you can furnish proof..

4.8ghz is what you'd get with a high end water cooling setup, and not aircooling....unless you keep the comp stored in a VERY cold environment.

Ya you need more than 1.5vcore to get over 4.5ghz, with any chip

hmm, I dont know about that, my 570es hit 4.4 on 1.38v and air cooled.
