it's me again

my question is this do athlon 64's perform better with higher bandwidth and looser timings or higher clockspeeds and tighter timings?

the reason i ask is i have figured out that my 4400 can handle 270x9, ram 1:1 2.5-3-3-10 2T resulting in 2430mhz cpu and 540mhz RAM (not bad for ddr400). however, i can also run it at 253x10, ram 1:1 2.5-3-3-7 2T for a total of 2530mhz cpu and 506mhz for the ram. am i better off going with solution one or solution two? does the extra 100mhz and the slightly tighter timing for solution two make it better than the 100mhz slower but more bandwidthy solution one?

helf!

have you done some looking around, esp with either of my guides here in the amd forum or in the memory forum? both should tell you pretty clearly that cpu speed is king over memory speed ;)

take the 100mhz of cpu over 17mhz of ram speed any and everyday :D
though, can you get the ram to work at 1T at those speeds?
also, tras, the last number in 2.5-3-3-6, has an EXTREMELY small effect on memory performance, even in synthetic benches
