quick noob question

Yes. The 6800OC from BFG has a slightly overclocked core of 350Mhz vs. 325Mhz of a 6800NU.

ok, if that's the only difference then sweet. i think both have chances to unlock all the pipes?

yes they should both have the potential to do that. although dont get upset if it doesnt because not all of them will do it.

yeah, i understand that. had a 6800OC from bfg and only got 6 shaders..

I'm buying a 6800NU leadtek from a guy here on the boards. he said all pipes/shaders unlock without any artifacts but YMMV.

what i am wondering is when he said YMMV, does it not work with some systems? i figured if it unlocked on one system, it would unlock on any?

any confirmation?

k, slight update.

the card only does 12p/6v, not 16p like i thought i read.

i can't decide between the leadtek 6800NU(12p/6v) or a xfx 6600GT( oc's to 560/1125 stable)

i can get the 6600gt for 180-190 and the 6800 for 230

any help?

6800 would probably perform better due to the fact that you can overclock it too. It starts out with better performance and that extra vertex shader can do nothing but make it better so I say take the 6800. By the way a 60Mhz overclock on the core isn't goin to provide a huge boost, probably barley noticable except for really demanding games and i'd bet the 6800 will get close to that overclock(gpu, not ram).
