I just got an Abit I35 Pro, with Dual Core 6850, 8800GTX and I have a questions about switchin my hard drive. I am currently on my old 80gig IDE drive. Has XP home on it, with tons and tons of files that I would like to keep. I wanted to dual boot Vista and XP on two seperate drives, and so I put in my 80gig IDE to see if that would work first (I had an old P4 2.4c, ASUS P4P800 deluxe) and while it recognized it, when I tried to boot up windows, it gave me what I assume was a blue screen of death midway through, and automatically rebooted my computer. I had to get back on to do some stuff so I put the same hard drive in my old comp, and it works fine.

Any ideas? Do you need to know anything else about my setup. I want to be able to use this drive if possible.
 
if you are going with a new mobo then you will most likely need to reinstall windows xp for it to work - its not got the right drivers for all that new hardware and hence the bluescreens.

as cheap as hard drives are anymore (you can get a sata 120 for like $50) i would recommend just getting another drive and use it as your main drive and use that IDE drive as an extra storage drive
