I have 2x512MB of Kingston HyperX PC4000 RAM. Since it cannot run stably at 250FSB to get a 1:1 divider, I decided to tighten the timings to 2-3-3-8. Does tightening the timings if I'm going to keep it at 200FSB shorten the life of the RAM at all?
Nah. Or at least not appreciably, and certainly not as much as running the RAM OC'ed would. If you aren't going to run at higher bus speeds, definitely tighten the timings are much as you can in order to squeeze as much performance out of the RAM as you can.
