quick heat/voltage question

i'm currently running my e6600 at 1.47 volts, 400mhz, the temps are sitting at about 50c right now, i assume that thats pretty safe? i just want to make sure since i'm new to overclocking, thanks!
 
Try decreasing your voltage one step at a time - then run orthos for an hour and see if it's stable.

My E6320 does 426FSB @ 1.375v / 19C idle temp (24c according to Core Temp) w/ Tuniq HSF. As I increase the voltage, the heat definitely increases a lot.

So, you may actually find that it's stable at 1.375v (due to lower temps) but not 1.400 - 1.425 (due to increased temps) but then it's stable again at 1.47v -

And if you have a stock HSF, those temps are probably fairly typical - I'm assuming you have an aftermarket HSF.
 
24C idle with that overclock on the Tuniq? Thats almost too low. :p Faulty sensor?
 
lol core temp is mess up anyway, such as it core temp 0.95 read my E2140 15 degree higher than core temp 0.94.

19c with PC Probe, 24c with Core Temp, 24c with Intel TAT.

So, faulty sensor perhaps?

I did replace the tuniq fan with the Silverstone 9 blade fan as well - and I have the Lian Li v1200 case so the rear fan is an intake which gets cool air for the HSF -
 
so whats a good program for temp monitoring? i have rightmark cpu clock utility and speedfan.
 
No, faulty program. Add 15c to those temps.

Ok, I borrowed a Fluke 62 infrared thermometer from a friend - I measured the temp on the coper plate above the CPU (at the base of my HSF) and it actually reads 1 degree cooler than the CPU does via Core Temp (23C idle). I don't think the sensor/program is faulty after all!

And I definitely need a fan for my memory - Corsair Ballistix / PC8500 @ 1065MHz 5-5-5-15 and it's almost 50c on the heatspreaders! o_O
