Quick question:
My hard drive is pretty f***ed up, got about 66% fragmentation. Ordering in a new drive to back all up to then gonna totally clear this one. How much would getting rid of all this 66% fragmentation actually speed me up in real world performance?
thanks.

It really depends on a lot of factors, but with that much fragmentation you will prolly see a notable change.

A new drive will also provide a performance improvement ;) T7K500s by Hitachi provide plenty of space and nice performance.

 I'm betting you see a huge difference. I usually don't let fragmentation get above 10%, with most of it occurring in my Firefox Cache / day-to-day game trailers downloads. I should probably ask, but how full is your hard drive? Fragmentation gets much worse as hard drive space decreases (I think the # is 10% or less?)

I'm set to defrag once a day while I'm asleep. I never see 4% before I go to bed.

66% is gonna take a long ass time to defrag.
There's no NEED to buy a new drive, but if you move all the shit off the defragged one, it will defrag faster.

And yeah, I'm willing to bet you see a difference. I've noticed one going from ~20%
