I assumed my ATX Aspire X-Dreamer case would have it's fans all setup right...my roommate tells me one day that my fan on the side is backwards...I am looking at it and it may be that way....it is the sidewindow fan, and it faces the CPU...but it's direction is blowing air TOWARD the CPU...

Is my friend just wrong, I'm not totally sure if sidewindow is intake or exhaust....but it seems to me he has some logic because it's just blowing air right back at the CPU , and blowing the same hot air right back at it...
 
that side fan is supposed to be an intake. it brings cool outside air in to feed the processor. i would flip the processor fan before flipping the side panel fan, if the current arrangement bugs you for whatever reason. the difference between the two fan orientations rarely makes much difference on MOST coolers, including stock coolers that i am familiar with.
 
I would have it blow out, to keep the heat out of your case, as your probably have an intake and a exhaust, it's best to have Negative air pressure in your case than positive

If he did that , it would suck air away from the CPU fan, not a good idea.
 
oh *turns fan around; whistles*

but what about in my position then, I have 2 intakes, 2 exhaust; if I turn my side fan around i'll have 3 intakes, what about all that pressure crap I have read so much about, lol
 
do you think that your case is air tight? added air will just escape through the fans already facing out and the gaps between panels.

at the end of the day, you could try both and do whatever gives you the best temps.

if you have space for a second exhast fan at the back, then that would be a good place to add one. i'm assuming a case with two 80mm fan openings at the rear.
