Quick e6600 question...

1hr is not so long though to call it stable

Just let orthos keep running, your temps are in spec and fine so no worries there.
 
I lowered the MB voltages to their lowest settings, and orthos ran all night, same temps when I got up this morning.

My one other concern is the memory. I bought the crucial ddr2-8000s and I wonder if I canmake them go a bit faster, but I'm not quite sure how much, or if I need to change timings to see results, etc.

After that, I can easily overclock the video, but I'd like to complain about the darn settings their not staying between boots while on the older drivers, like for my 6600, they stayed fine.

Honestly, I spent just as much on the memory as I did the CPU. I know they can go far, but I just don't know how far or how to do it that well. While I've overclosked in the past quite well, the memory settings are quite different and a LOT more options appear nowadays.

I also made sure I disabled the LAN #2 port per techzone's review. Still using onboard sound as the x-fi card I wanted isn't here yet. I figure that the 410 for the CPU was stable after running Ortho all night, and yes, I had made sure that there were 2 running, with affinity set on each core. i.e. One copy was running on one core.
 
Ive been telling anyone who will listen that people dont have to give there e6600s alot of voltage. 99&#37; of people can run stock speeds at 1.2V. I ran 3.1 at 1.18 Volts. My temps were awesome as a result. Even now im at 3.4 and im only giving my processor 1.26V. So many people give there conroes too much voltage and it ends up hurting there overclocks more. Heat is the biggest problem, and voltage is the key to lower temps. At 3.4 with 1.26 volts my idle temps are 32C and load is between 47-50C. I plan on going higher but i want to give my processor a few days at 3.4 before raising it any higher. I just installed my old XP-120 yesterday, and what a difference it makes in my temps. Using low voltage combined with good cooling will result in major overclocks. People need to see how far there processors will go at the lowest voltage possable. I will most likely never give my processor more than 1.35 volts even when im at my target speed of 3.73 or so.

By the way, i love my p5b deluxe wifi board, its a great overclocking board thats rock solid.
 
As far as I can tell, that is what my MB says, but if that isn't it, then all is "auto", as in I didn't change anything.

Basically, I went through the bios pages and listed them. I thought those VCore settings were what was wanted... Sorry, new MB to me, and as I said, some of the settings were new to me. The last overclock I did was to a northwood 3.06.

We need to post a place for bios exchanges for overclocks for these ASUS boards, but there likely is one already. If you know of such a spot, let me know. I want to know how my 0804 P5B WIFI compares, and they sdo say one can exchange the bios settings as files...
 
You have a great chip there if that is stock voltage. My 6600 needs 1.3875 in bios to go 3.6 without crashing Orthos.
 
Well, most people who use the P5Bs to overclock will have these settings set (only listed ones you should look at changing possibly):

But, if you are having good OC results (Which you seem to) I wouldn't mess with the settings.
 
wow dude that's pretty awesome. I was playing around with my 6600 recently and got it stable at 3.46 GHz at 1.4V...and I felt all proud of myself...

It was running a bit too warm for my liking while running F@H on my Freezer 7 Pro so I backed it all back down to stock. I would like to try to obtain a good OC on a lower voltage to help offset the temperatures a bit, but it currently takes too much time since I have so much other shit to get to first. :(
Nice work on the OC though.
 
Guys, thanks for the replies. I'll look at those settings when I get home tonight, and I'll have to post the information on the Intel box at home for you all. It only came out of the box in the past 2 weeks, and I bought it at Newegg, if that matters.

I've been busy playing Vanguard on it, honestly, so I know it works extremely well. The only issues I have found appear to be video driver issues within Vanguard, and as I know the overclock settings haven't been staying after a reboot, the issues are at stock video card speeds... This new PC is by far the best I've had ever, so I admit to being quite pleased with my purchasing decision.
 
I went ahead and made a couple of those setting changes, but now I want to know WHY a bit better, so I'm looking for a place that has a good listing of those settings.

I bought a BIOS book a while back, and then they updated it again online right afterwards /sigh so now I'm out of luck again.. and it was this book, too :http://www.techarp.com/show.aspx?fileID=18 grr hehe

If anyone has a good spot to read up on these, let me know. It appears I have a good cpu, from what I understand, and while I can take it higher most likely, I'd rather not =) Here is what it has on the Intel box:
