trying to be under 800 w/ 17" LCD

Aspire case w/350 watt
Sempron 2600+
Soltek SL-K8AN2E-GR anyone know if this mobo supports sempron and if not could ya recommend one for around $75
Corsair Value Select 512mb
maxtor 80gb IDE
NEC-3520A dvd burner
MSI NX6600GT
polyview 17" LCD
logitech keyboard+mouse

total now with shipping $800.08 :)

so any other suggestions.

thanks

I'd go for something instead of Corsair Value, it's had too many issues lately.

There's no shame in hooking them up with something from Dell, that way Dell is the one that gets nailed with the tech support...

Could do a lot better if it was for an overclocker. ^_^

He didn't want dell, and asked me to build it since my brother liked the one i built for him.

I've had nothing but good dealings with corsair.

They used to be one of the best...recently though I've heard a lot of issues with Corsair Value in particular. Might not have any problem with it. But if there's something nice at around the same price, I'd switch. Crucial perhaps?

Depending on how light the light gaming is, you might want to get a full GB...if it's enough to make a 6600GT worthwhile, I would tend to think a GB is warranted.

Go for a S754 board with OC potential like the EPoX mentioned above, you'll be able to get more for you money that way. The S754 Semprons are looking to be good OCers and you can always upgrade to a 3700+ down the road.

The antec case i put in the list hase a much better PSU than the Aspire case, and very good airflow. I've used that case and the 3700BQE for numerous builds and have not had a problem with case or PSU.

You could probably find a few things cheaper elseware but those are the components I'd go for in that price range. My two cents and good luck

um with the price bump, I'd get a better processor

and if theirs still some money left a gig of ram.

This will give your friend much better over all system performance than just upping the video card, since that processor is too slow to take advantage of a 6800gt.
