Quick Amd64 Temp Question

i have been monitoring my new s754 3400 closely
im using the stock cooler and have temps of 62 load, 50 idle.
this on a dfi lanparty board

now i know the 754's run hotter so im assuming these temps are perfectly fine for stock cooling?
And i dont feel like changing the hs/f anytime soon, because its too much of a hassle

I run the same board, 3400 (newcastle core) proccie, stock AMD hs/fan.

Idle on mine 42c
Load ~ 55-60c

It doesnt seem too out of whack, the only thing that concerns me is Smartguardian vs the Nvidia system util:

Nvidia system util reports 60c idle, I havent monitored load.

I have the latest BIOS from dfi, so I dont believe that to be an issue. Ambient temp as monitored by an external source reports 30c.

I just dont know which source to trust : Bios util, Nvidia system util, or my external source. All are very different.

At any rate, the system is rock-solid stable, so I think I just wont worry with it :D
 
on my asus board (k8v se deluxe - gave me errors, got the same dfi board) i was getting temps around 37c idle. Now in the bios my dfi board reports temps around 60c idle. I think that these boards read high temperatures, either way i have a digitaldoc5+ in the mail and i'm going to hook it up to my processor, i'll post my results when i get it.
 
flash to the newest bios, it fixes a temp sensor misread. dfi reported some boards reading as far off as 10C over what they were really at. i flashed mine and it didn't change it much. go and buy a tt venus 12 for 30 bucks on newegg. i have one cooling a 2800 754 that's clocked to 2.25GHz with 1.78vcore
 
thanks for the advice, i'll get around to flashing it someday :). Anyways i dont need a new cooler, i have a water setup thats working fine.
 
i went to dfi to check for a new bios, and the only one there says it was the "initial release" bios, the one that came with the board.

As linger reported, DFI doesn't have any updated BIOS images on their website except for the initial release dated 08/27/2004... Where did you get yours from?
 
I believe there are beta bios releases in their forums, at least, links to them. I havent used them since the only thing that is wrong is temp reporting. I've got no stability issues and I dont want to break what aint broke :D
