this is from new egg, i am curious to know what SATA II is.
also how big of a difference is there in 8mb cache and 16mb cache, what does the cache really do?

for this large of a hard drive, im assuming there is more than one platter, does this rape performance?

how much of a difference does a high end SATA raid controller increase over a lower end SATA raid controller?

Well the ide controllers normally use a touch of cpu power, but i believe (might be wrong) they have one of the highest prirites for interrupt. You can get ram drives, but you're looking at something like $750-1000 per gig or something like that. Very not cheap.
