questions on overclocking video cards

1)Ok so im going to get 2 HD 5770 and was planning on using eyefinity with one of the cards. would it benefit me to over clock the one that the monitors are going to be plugged into?
2)would i have to over clock both to the same level?
3)would i have to make any adjustments to the fan on the card, and would it affect the life of the card?

4)Also what would be a good HS to get when over clocking the i5 core?
5)Would this keep the temp of the CPU down enough, or would there start to be noticeable heat changes that would decrease the life of my comp?


also i have to throw in my nub question

6)Over clocking is done solely from Bios for the core as well as the vid card correct?
7)And the options/"how to" would be listed in a manual or pdf that came with the mobo correct?

1. just overclock both of them.. the second card will just stay in 2D mode when running eyefinity anyways..
2. as far as i know it will overclock both of them if your using CCC..
3. most likely no unless your doing voltage tweaks.. the cards do a good job at changing the fan speeds as the temp rises..
4. look around on the site theres plenty of reviews on heatsinks for the i5/i7..
5. heat wont decrease the life of the cpu as much as voltage will.. stay under the recommended max voltage for the i5 which is 1.5v and you will be fine..
6. bios overclocking for the CPU, ATI CCC for the cards or msi afterburn which is a 3rd party software..
7. no there really wont be any options, how to's to overclock a cpu.. but theres plenty of information here on [H] on how to do it.. kyle even did a video to show just how easy it is to overclock an i7 on LGA-1366 which is exactly the same as the LGA-1156.. unless your going balls out and trying to shoot for 4+ ghz.. then the only things you will most likely need to change are CPU voltage, CPU multiplier, and ram multiplier..
