Questions about this heatercore

Link me up Scotty!!
If I were to buy this:

1) how do I attach my fans??
2) Would using 2 low rpm fans be effective or would I have to use high output fans?
3) Is painting an option? Would it reduce the effectiveness of the heatercore??

Attach fans any way you see fit. Zip ties... long screws.. whatever. Would using two low rpm fans be as effective as what? obviously the more air you push across the fins, the greater your cooling power, but depending on how much heat you are dumping you might be fine with slow fans. Painting makes little to no difference in temperature. I left my heatercore unpainted just because theoretically paint effects it a little and I want every ounce of cooling power I can get. I run a similar sized core with 2 M1A panaflo's. They do me just fine.

1. connect the fans with a shroud

2. undervolted fans would help with sound and because there is more surface area performance will be better then a single core

3. painting does not come on dangerden cores but painting the sides has no noticable decrease in performance

I got my core and shroud from www.moddershq.com good prices and performance. You can choose your color and barb sizes as well

20 bucks for a bonneville heatercore? what auto parts store do you guys go to? all the local joints here in AZ want at least 30 bucks for even a chevette core. back home in ohio, the same went for 25.

Yeah it was 38 bucks for the bonnesville at my Autozone near my house. I just ordered the Danger Den one and painted it and was done with it. No need to solder any hose barbs to it or do anything else.

the dangerden cores are not 77 bonvilles and have less surface area but not by much

Check out Autozone for part # 399078. This is the 77 B'ville H/C w A/C, they show it as $17.99.

Thanks for the replies first off.

Secondly...I'm looking for something already barbed b/c I have no welding/soldering experience what so ever. I don't know if the bonneville heatercore had them b/c there wasn't a picture.

Anyway, the statement about the fans. I know that some of the radiators have more dense centers so using a high cfm fan is basically a must to get the air through. But I was wondering if 2 lower speed ones would be alright in terms of getting air through the radiator.

WTF 24.99 here in So Cal =(

And it comes up at 31.99 for me. Feck an autozone.

Bonne cores don't come with barbs, but there's a gentleman in the for sale/trade forums that sells em pre barbed. I think he asks $35 for em. I'd go that route if I were you. Besides that, a tube of JBweld can be used to attach barbs. No skillz required. I couldn't tell you about the air restriction/fan requirements of that particular core you are looking at, but I can't see any reason it would need any more powerful fan than average.

Check with weapon-- He sells the shrouds for the Bonny H/C, and he also sells the modded H/C itself. You can PM or email him, it;s at the bottom of his first post.
Looks like he does very good work. No personal experinece myself, but lots of people here have bought his work.
